What is n8n?
A workflow-automation platform for technical teams that combines a visual node editor, code, integrations, AI agents, human approvals, execution logs, and MCP connectivity in modular automations.
Why is this important?
n8n provides flexible, inspectable orchestration and is strong when teams want to compose many external systems. Frontline Workflows operate closer to a native CRM and company brain, where customer events, records, channels, Max, Apps, Artifacts, and AI employees already share context.
How it works
A builder connects trigger and action nodes, maps data between steps, adds code or AI agents, configures credentials and branches, runs test executions, then deploys the workflow with logs and controls.
Technical example
An n8n workflow can enrich a lead, route it through an AI step, request approval, and update a CRM. A Frontline Workflow can start from the native customer record and continue through customer conversations without a separate CRM integration.
Implementation notes
Design for idempotency, retries, credential scope, error branches, versioning, human approval, observability, queue capacity, and data retention. MCP can expose selected n8n workflows to agents and let n8n call MCP tools.
